cut for vinyl at gearbox, pressed at Optimal in Germany. The centre label has a thin matt black surround so that the relative dimensions of label to record surface are exactly the same as a 12". This is very pleasing miniaturisation, and a reminder of how aesthetically unsatisfactory 10" records are unless you do this!

about

“The idea for this album germinated from something at the end of the previous one, where many instruments are playing a simple melody, but with variations - however, it's not clear how and when these variations are decided upon. This got me thinking about the nature of improvisation, and the extent of psychic connections between improvisers. As such, the whole of 10 sketches is improvised, but with all three players seemingly able to intuit the musical architecture.”
There is a forerunner of this approach is accompanying this short video here -

In truth this was the first time I'd ever seriously picked up a pair of drum sticks, and was keen to avoid any looping or playing to clicks. I think this gives it a genuine, singular, and very necessary punk edge - it was never my intention to make some kind of proper jazz record; that would've been just too crass."

The vinyl has a wider stereo which is more suited to playing on speakers, whereas the digital version is optimised for headphones/in-ear monitoring
